Welcome to Pet Bird Information!

Here at Pet Birds Information we will present you with facts and information that will aid you in getting the right pet bird, caging it in the right cage, feeding it the right foods, and keeping it all around healthy for enjoyment and companionship.  We will also be writing articles on bird watching, giving you tips and tricks on how to get the birds to come to you.

Some quick facts about our feathered friends:

Birds can really fly along, radar has clocked songbirds at 30 mph (48.3 kph) and shore birds at 45 mph (72.4 kph).  This speed does depend on wind speed and direction, and, if the birds are flying with the wind they will glide along to save energy.

Like mammals birds are warm-blooded and are classified as Avians, or Aves.

Chickens are the most eaten birds in the world, both as eggs and as BBQ.  Geese, pheasants, ducks, and turkeys are the most eaten wild game birds.

Birds range in size from 2.5 inch (6.35 cm) 0.08 ounce (2.27 g) Bee Hummingbird to the 4 foot 7 inch (1.4 m) Wondering Albatross weighing in at 35 pounds (15.9 kg).  The Wondering Albatross out weighs (masses) the Bee hummingbird by 7,004 times.

Birds are social animals, their flocks can number upwards of 50,000.

Some birds, like some humans, have monogamous relationships.
